    Should government health plans pay for Alternative medicine?

    Also, why are chiropractors considered a form of alternative medicine? I mean they go through 4 years of schooling, and don't doctors refer patients to chiropractors? So doesn't that make them effective?

    There are many alternative healthcare that has not been proven effective ...but I believe chiropractors are a definite plus for some people. Its a real hard call because so many pluses and minuses.

    My wife and I both work full time with different employers that offer health insurance to us. My employer offers a HSA (Health Savings Account) style plan with a high deductible. My wife's employer offers a POS (Point of Service) plan with a co-pay

    1. The plan with the high deductible is not an HSA. The plan is technically called an HDHP or HDHP-compatible insurance. The actual HSA is something separate.

    2. If you pay for two (or more) plans, then neither plan pays for anything

    Medicare Audits Target Overpayments to Private Health Plans

    Feb. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Humana Inc., UnitedHealth Group Inc. and other insurers running Medicare managed-care plans may have to refund the government as much as $370 million next year if audits find the companies were overpaid.

    About 11 percent of government payments to the health plans were erroneous in 2011, the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services estimates. Government audits of 30 unspecified plans will examine whether clinical records justify payments made for medical services, the agency said today.
